It can be hard for a music student in elementary school to imagine any even remotely cool sound coming from his or her
musical instrument, especially a violin. For at least a few more years, they can probably look forward to sounds that fall
somewhere between torturing cats and “Mary Had a Little Lamb.”
Learning stringed instruments can be tedious and often discouraging to young students, but those who attended a workshop Thursday with “Black Violin” got an hour-long glimpse of what a violin can really do.
They got an hour of inspiration and hope.
“We are you. We were here in fifth grade playing violin,” said Kev Marcus, violinist with the group. “We’ve been able to do a lot of cool things with a violin. We opened for Aerosmith, the Eagles, Lil Wayne and 50 Cent.”... Read the FULL ARTICLE HERE
